Monta Vista Speech Team
Interpretation Branch Head / VP OF PR

As Interpretation Branch Head(22-23), April created a curriculum, such as weekly lesson plans, demonstrations, and drills, for novice members of the Interp branch. She also created curriculum for MVHS's middle school partner club, Kennedy Middle School Speech. She helped organize and delegate teaching work among herself and other Interpretation captains. April really enjoys interacting with and encouraging the students she teaches, whether that be through lectures, games or the occasional motivational meme.
As VP of PR(23-24), April managed the public relations of the team, such as merchandise, event planning, and social media. She has created original designs for speech crewnecks, hoodies and buttons over the past few years (see: Art > Graphic Design).

LOVE THY NEIGHBOR
CO-TEACHER
During the pandemic, April had the chance to teach at a non-profit organization called Love Thy Neighbor, for which she and her sister organized a free public speaking class. They personally created the entire four-week course, from curriculum to schedules to showcases. The class consisted of 20+ elementary to middle schoolers, and was successful enough for them to run a few workshops with a condensed version of the curriculum in the following two years.
